Abstract
Abstract Introduction: Improving the quality of human resources in education is largely determined by teachers’ performance as the main actors in the learning process. Teacher performance is influenced not only by professional competence but also by school leadership and teachers’ psychological characteristics, particularly emotional intelligence. In the context of private vocational schools, efforts to enhance teacher performance face increasing challenges due to demands for instructional innovation, workload pressures, and adaptation to educational changes. Therefore, empirical research integrating transformational leadership and emotional intelligence with job satisfaction as a psychological mechanism influencing teacher performance is essential. Research Objective: This study aims to analyze the effects of transformational leadership and emotional intelligence on teacher performance, both directly and indirectly through job satisfaction as a mediating variable at SMK Mutiara Bangsa 7. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of all 45 teachers at SMK Mutiara Bangsa 7, all of whom were included as respondents using a census technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. Results: The findings indicate that transformational leadership and emotional intelligence have a positive and significant effect on teachers’ job satisfaction. Emotional intelligence also has a positive and significant direct effect on teacher performance. However, transformational leadership does not directly affect teacher performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between transformational leadership or emotional intelligence and teacher performance. Conclusion: This study concludes that emotional intelligence is a crucial factor in enhancing teacher performance, while transformational leadership plays a more significant role in shaping job satisfaction. These findings suggest that school management should focus on developing inspirational leadership practices and strengthening teachers’ emotional intelligence to sustainably improve performance. Keywords: transformational leadership; emotional intelligence; job satisfaction; teacher performance; PLS-SEM
