Abstract

This study was conducted in Pegandon District Kendal Regency, due to the low level extra behavior in organizations, such as helping co-workers, responsibility outside of main tasks, and participation in organizational activities. Extra behavior in organizations is very important so that public services can run faster, more responsively, and with quality. This study aims to determine the effect of effective leadership on extra behavior in organization, both directly and indirectly through job satisfaction and work motivation. This study uses a quantitative approach with 133 respondents, consisting of sub-district employees and village officials. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with SmartPLS 4.0. The results of the study showed that effective leadership significantly increased job satisfaction, work motivation, and extra behavior in organizations. Job satisfaction and motivation were also shown to be important mediators in the relationship between effective leadership and Extra behavior in organizations. This confirms that the role of leaders not only affects direct performance, but also forms a positive work atmosphere and encourages voluntary work spirit. In conclusion, effective leadership plays a significant role in fostering a proactive and caring work culture. Therefore, leaders in Pegandon District need to consistently be fair, open, and provide tangible support to employees, encouraging them to demonstrate extra-organizational behaviors, such as helping coworkers and taking greater initiative in completing tasks. Future research should expand the scope of the study to other districts, utilize interviews or observations for additional data, and incorporate other variables such as organizational culture or workload for more comprehensive results
