Abstract

Profitability is an important indicator of the performance of bank. The level of profitability can affect the performance of a bank. In this research the profitability measured by Return on Assets (ROA). This research aims to identify and analyze the effect of capital adequacy ratio (CAR), non-performing loans (NPLs), loan to deposit atio (LDR), biaya operasional pendapatan operasional (BOPO) to return on assets (ROA). The population in this research is a mixture of banks listed on the Bank Indonesia in 2007-2011. Sampling technique conducted with purposive sampling method, and the obtained a mixture of 13 banks. Analysis the data used is Multiple Regression Analysis and hypothesis testing performed by Parameter Significance Testing Individual (t test). The results of the t test showed that the significant negative BOPO to ROA with significance of 0.000. NPL significant positive effect on ROA with significance of 0.000. CAR and LDR had no significant effect the ignificance of ROA each at 0.052 and 0.229. The coefficient of etermination is equal to 0.732 or 73.2%. It shows that 73.2% ROA is affected by CAR, NPL, LDR, and BOPO. While the remaining 26.8% is influenced by other factors outside the research model
