Abstract

The objective of this research is to test the effect of adverse selection and locus of control on the level of escalation of commitment in the investment decision. The hypotheses in this research are Adverse Selection affects the rate of escalation of commitment and locus of control affects the rate of escalation of commitment. The research population is accounting students of STIE Bank BPD Jateng. Purposive sampling technique is used in this research. These criteria of samples are accounting students, generation 2008-200. The concentration is management accounting and has got a Management Accounting course. The analysis method that used in this research is multiple linear regression. The result of the research shows that the adverse selection and locus of control as independent variables simultaneously have significantly affect on escalation of commitment as dependent variable. The adjusted R Square in this study is 0.521 or 52,1%. However, based on t test, obtained the result that the adverse selection variables significantly influence the escalation of commitment, while the variable locus of control did not significantly influence the escalation of commitment.
