Abstract

Bank is one of the financial institutions which has activities to raise funds from public in the form of savings and distribute them to the public in form of credit or other forms. The purpose of the bangking business is to gain profit. Ability of the banks in gain profit is measured by return on assets (ROA). In order to achieve the expected return on assets, banks are prepared by any business activity involving the use of the banking assets or profit that always geared to various risks that must be addressed. In addition, banks also face the condition of the market structure, which, indirectly, affect the ability of banks to generate profit. The purpose of this research is to examine influence of Capital adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Loan (NPL) and Net Interest Margin (NIM) through Return On Asset (ROA) of public banking go public at Indonesian Stock Exchange on period 2007-2010. Samples used in this research are public banking go public at Indonesian Stock Exchange on period 2007-2010. This research uses purposive sampling method to choose samples so it is resulted 24 companies as samples. Data is analyzed by using multiple regression method and descriptive statistics. The results of this research found that CAR has no significant effect to ROA. Besides, this research proves there is significant positive influence between NIM to ROA. Whereas NPL has significant negative effect to ROA.
